There are statues on the shore

There are statues on the shore and they have been there longer than we can remember. But every year there is a morning when you realize a statue is slightly different than yesterday: different reliefs on the sculpted armour, a subtle difference in pose, perhaps even a slight change in size. There has been a change of the guard.
